Sangria Sunday

It was such a beautiful day today.  The family and I spent a few hours sitting on the deck and I sipped on some wonderful homemade sangria.  Everybody puts up such great recipes so I wanted to pass on one I found for sangria.

1.5 liter of dry red wine
(I use Frontera Concha Tora Cabernet/Merlot mix)
1/2 cup brandy
1/2 cup triple sec
1/2 cup sugar (you can vary amount to your sweetness level)
Mix all of the above together
Add:
1 lemon cut up
1 apple cut up
1 orange cut up
(I usually squeeze some of the juice from the slices into the sangria)

A lot of recipes call for 10 oz club soda.  I don't like my sangria fizzy, but some people may want to add.

It might be my imagination, but I think it's better after it sits for a few hours.  Pour over ice.

Another good recipe for rum punch is

1 part Malibu Rum
1 part cranberry
1 part pineapple juice

Can you tell I like to drink?

Hope everyone had a great weekend.  I can't believe it's over already.

Luckily, I get to meet Linda tomorrow for dinner.  That makes the weekend being over a little easier.

  6. The rum punch you posted is what I've ordered the last few times I've gone out. I was told it's called a "Deb" (for debutant). It's delicious and mild enough, alcohol-wise, for when you're banded. You won't get tossed from one.

  9. I have a secret recipe for stacking box sangria that I might share one day. Maybe in time for the summer BBQ.
