(started this post yesterday)
Happy Holidays to you all. Hope you are having a wonderful day. I am enjoying Christmas with my family. It's our tradition to stay home in our pjs and enjoy a day of doing nothing. We get up at a respectable time (definitely the good thing about having teenagers), open presents (spent way too much money - definitely the bad thing about having teenagers), eat cinnamon rolls in the middle of opening presents to make the event last longer, clean up wrapping paper/boxes/bows, etc (it's amazing how it takes hours - hell days to buy and wrap all those presents - not to mention paying them off - and such a short time to open and clean up), then have brunch. When I first got my band and fills, there was no way I could eat breakfast. At least nothing of substance or I would get stuck. That was the problem - part of the problem - with the band. It wasn't that my stomach was smaller and I would get full on a smaller amount of food. It was that I had a hard time getting food down at all. So I resorted to slider foods which we all know is a slippery slope (excuse my pun).
Last week I had my 4th appointment with my nutritionist, which is part of a 7 month preop requirement for my insurance. It used to be 6 months of attempted weight loss, but then they changed to 7 months. A lot of people seeing my surgeon lost their mind. Now - don't get me wrong - I totally understand people being upset, but it's NOT THE DOCTOR'S or THE STAFF's fault. And personally, I'm ecstatic that my insurance is covering my surgery so one more month is no big deal. I'm assuming my surgery will be some time in April. Definitely nervous when I think about it, but definitely helps to hear those of you had the surgery and are doing well. Appreciate the support!
Yes, Christmas takes weeks of prep for a few minutes of Joy. I spent the 26 th with both of our boys so that was the real joy. Everything else was a bonus. I don't think 7 months is too long to wait for a life changing and perhaps life threatening surgery. Heck, I waited almost 4 months after I started having complications from my band. Time flies and it gives you time to embrace the new reality, sort of.
ReplyDeleteI held out months... because of me not being able to afford to meet my deductible, otherwise I would have got it done earlier in the year. So 7 months isn't too bad. Glad you are getting things in order and will be getting sleeved soon.
ReplyDeleteCan't believe how fast its coming up, you must be so excited! Have you decided which surgery you're going to have, or are you still doing some research?
