Football Weekend

I was never really into football until the Baltimore Ravens won SuperBowl in 2000. Then I started to pay attention. Tonight we squeaked into the playoffs and I am so happy that I can wear my Ravens apparel for another week. I'm not one of those people who can just watch football to watch football. I have to be invested in the team. So I love to watch the Ravens play and as of 2 years ago I have a college team to watch as well. My daughter goes to Penn State (my brother and sister-in-law also graduated from there) so we are now Nittany Lions fans. I think that the shit storm that Jerry Sandusky brought to Penn State made it tough for a lot of football athletes and it's amazing to me the young men who stayed despite the bad publicity. I was so happy that Penn State won their Bowl game on Saturday in overtime. It was a nail biter with a great ending for us.
WE ARE!! Penn State! WE ARE!! Penn State! WE ARE!! Penn State! Thank you!! You're welcome!!

Happy Holidays!

(started this post yesterday) Happy Holidays to you all. Hope you are having a wonderful day. I am enjoying Christmas with my family. It's our tradition to stay home in our pjs and enjoy a day of doing nothing. We get up at a respectable time (definitely the good thing about having teenagers), open presents (spent way too much money - definitely the bad thing about having teenagers), eat cinnamon rolls in the middle of opening presents to make the event last longer, clean up wrapping paper/boxes/bows, etc (it's amazing how it takes hours - hell days to buy and wrap all those presents - not to mention paying them off - and such a short time to open and clean up), then have brunch. When I first got my band and fills, there was no way I could eat breakfast. At least nothing of substance or I would get stuck. That was the problem - part of the problem - with the band. It wasn't that my stomach was smaller and I would get full on a smaller amount of food. It was that I had a hard time getting food down at all. So I resorted to slider foods which we all know is a slippery slope (excuse my pun). Last week I had my 4th appointment with my nutritionist, which is part of a 7 month preop requirement for my insurance. It used to be 6 months of attempted weight loss, but then they changed to 7 months. A lot of people seeing my surgeon lost their mind. Now - don't get me wrong - I totally understand people being upset, but it's NOT THE DOCTOR'S or THE STAFF's fault. And personally, I'm ecstatic that my insurance is covering my surgery so one more month is no big deal. I'm assuming my surgery will be some time in April. Definitely nervous when I think about it, but definitely helps to hear those of you had the surgery and are doing well. Appreciate the support!
