Happy Belated Easter!

Hello, All -

Quick post to let you know I'm still around.  Please forgive me for not commenting on your blogs the past few days.  I tried to get through as many as possible tonight.

I had to spend Friday and Saturday of this past beautiful weekend in a bowling alley.  My girls are on a duckpin bowling league and it was their tournament.

My oldest has come in first place the past 4 years and was very disappointed that this year her team came in second.  I felt so bad for her.  Luckily we had a great Easter which helped make up for the other days.  We went to my brother and sister-in-laws house for an awesome dinner - ham and all the fixings with an egg hunt after.  I'm not a big candy eater, but the ham, homemade scalloped potatoes and sangria were hard to resist...so I didn't, but I had much less than I normally would have.  It definitely helped that I could sit outside and not have to stare at the food.  I made one plate and that was it.  I did have a couple of glasses of sangria, but I can count that as fruit, right?  (come on sisters, back me up).  My 4th month of nutritional counseling and weigh in is next week and I can't have a gain 2 months in a row.

I haven't written a lot about my job because I'm paranoid that someone from work will stumble across my blog.  It's not that I dislike my job, but there have been some things that have happened recently to make me like it less.  I find myself thinking/worrying about my job over the weekend, which really sucks.  First thing this morning I got an email from my boss about a ton of information that she needs me to get together by the end of this week.  I negotiated a few more days and have until next Tuesday, but it's still a lot.  My job is great in a lot of ways, but sometimes I wish I could do something that was more fulfilling.  But then I think about my great salary, awesome benefits, flexibility (I can work from home sometimes and do my own scheduling), and 4 weeks vacation which are all so hard to give up.  I mean, how many people are really fulfilled by their jobs?  Anyway, there is a part of me that thinks I could like my job better if I weighed less.  I have to do a lot of cold calling to physician offices and think I'd feel more comfortable doing that if I was thinner.  When I initially took this job, I didn't realize how much sales would be involved - I thought it would be more customer service/relations.  I work for a hospital and need to promote our programs and services.  Physicians and their staff are so busy, so it is extremely difficult to get time in front of them.  Maybe if I was thinner, I could be pushier.  :-)  Guess I'll have to wait to see.

Lastly, most of you know how great the Wii can be for exercise.  My younger daughter wanted "Just Dance" for Easter and I got it for her.  Talk about a fun workout.

Lastly, I've been nominated for a few awards and I am so grateful.  I hope to be able to accept sometime soon.  With this project I've been given at work and because my husband has been working nights, any time I have to get on blogger I want to spend reading your blogs and commenting.  So please forgive me for not following the award rules.

Have a great week and let's all hope Lori of A Journey to Embrace gets authorization from her insurance company asap.

  1. Hey girl, sorry to hear work is getting stressful. It's no fun to be preoccupied with work when you're at home having family time. The Wii workout looks like fun! We are Luddites, probably the only family still without a Wii. At least, that's how my kids explain it...

  4. Work is work. I truly believe the VAST majority of people are unfulfilled by their jobs. Only a select few are lucky enough to do what they are MEANT to do and some of us will never even realize what that is. So we muddle through and find other things to be fulfilled by - hobbies, family and fun. That sounds better than loving a job to me. Sorry you're stressed right now but glad your band helped you over the holidays. I agree...Sangria is definitely a fruit.

  5. I loved my last job and I was great at it and climbing the ladder fast, but I gave it all up when we had a chance (DH transfer) to move back to my hometown (not there anymore, but we had 5 years there) and it (DH promotion) allowed me to stay home with the kiddies. I was pregnant with my third, had 2 small kids with long hours in daycare, and traveling every week. It was a hard transition, and I'm not saying quit your job, just that sometimes you can find fulfillment other places; volunteering, pick up a hobby, home, etc.

Oh, and as long as you scooped a piece of fruit into your glass, Sangria is definitely a fruit!

  6. I agree that Sangria is fruit. My job changed in August and I went from Sales to Office Manager in my brother's business. I loved the freedom of sales and it suit my personality much better than this position, however I do find it rewarding knowing that I have been able to help my brothers out in a time when they really needed me. I don't mind the work at all, but have found it a challenge to bloom were I'm planted and to fill my creative needs. But I've done it and am much more settled now. I hope it get's better for you.
