GOOD NEWS
I'm at my half way point for my nutritional counseling sessions. I did double-check with the insurance coordinator and she said my first month does count towards my 6 months, my last appointment is in June. If all goes well, I'll have my surgery beginning of July. I met with the Nurse Practioner who will be doing my fills and she is super nice. She said that I can get fills once a month and they will work with me if I'm not feeling restriction. She said they are pretty aggressive with the first fill and I can get it 3 to 4 weeks after surgery. All my tests looked good - no sleep apnea or issues with chest xray/upper GI, so that's a relief.
BAD NEWS
I gained 2 lbs since my weigh in last month. I'm still down a pound from when I started, but I need to get on the ball. I don't want the insurance company to deny me because I didn't lose anything. It kind of sucks because yesterday I weighed a pound less - damn water retention.
Have a good week.

WooHoo for July! That will be here before you know it!
ReplyDeleteSo glad to hear that your Journey is about to begin!
ReplyDeleteJust be careful with a big Fill so early on. At 4 weeks, you are still somewhat recovering. Just look at what happened to Sandy Lee, http://rollercoasterdieting.blogspot.com! She needed an unfill as she couldn't eat anything.
I had my first Fill at 6 weeks with no problems.
Just remember that if you do get the Fill early, to NOT do like I do, and "follow" the instructions about eating and drinking for the first few days.
I gained 5 lbs initially on while on "medically supervised weight loss." Once you really start hitting the pre-op diet you will have great results.
ReplyDeleteYou would think that it is hard to lose weight by yourself, the insurance would think it would be a bigger incentive to get the Lap Band. I have learned to weigh myself either with clothes on or off because both will give different results, lol.
ReplyDeleteI know you can do it. July will be here before you know it!
Thanks everybody. Debi - I appreciate the warning, but I wonder how big a deal it would be when there are some people that get fills during surgery. It seems kind of crazy to me that some surgeons do and some don't.
ReplyDeleteFab! You have a tentative date month. That's awesome news!!!
ReplyDeleteJust found your blog. So excited for your tentative date! I too had to lose weight before surgery and it was so tough!! Slimfast for 2 meals helped me lose before surgery. I delayed having my surgery because I didn't lose weight during 6 months prior. So really try hard, the band is amazing and so wish I had it sooner!! I too have lost my mom, I just saw your post. hugs!!
ReplyDeleteHi Bonnie, I am so happy to see everything is moving in the right direction. July will be there very soon don't worry. For the fill I would also recommend to wait a bit more than 3 to 4 weeks. I am now 4 weeks post op and wouldnt be ready yet to have a fill. This week I can really see the healing process is speeding up but i still am happy to have waited. I am in bandster hell right now so if I am honnest some times i wish I had a fill but I know I am not ready yet.
ReplyDeleteJuly will be here before you know it! I'm really touched by your post about your Mother, I would see the angel as a sign too.
ReplyDeleteYour nephew is gorgeous too!
Exciting to have a (tentative) date! Every day is a day closer to being banded. And you're already so far ahead of the game since you've been reading everyone's blogs for a while now. Once you're banded you'll be flying down the scale. Hang in there on the pre-op diet, it sucks but remember it's just supposed to get you to surgery. The band will help with the rest!
ReplyDeleteI just got caught up on your blogs that I missed from last week and weekend. Just being away four days left me with a lot of reading to do!
ReplyDeleteThat was a beautiful tribute to your mom on Sunday. She sounds like a wonderful lady and a fabulous mom. What a great combo. I, too, believe our loved ones are still around. I have had three dreams where my mom came back to actually talk to me. In one dream, she took me to where she is and showed me around. It was a place that was so totally her. A week later, I talked to my dad and he said he'd had this dream he needed to tell me about. And he proceeded to describe EXACTLY what I'd seen. It was so eerie. The conversation we had in that dream was absolutely amazing and still gives me great things to reflect on, nearly 5 years later.
Yay for being half way done. It's gettin there, it's gettin there!
Glad they counted that month! Summer will be great...you can take it easy and relax in the sun. Don't sweat the weight as long as you're down 5-10 pounds by the end! It's all good news!
