I am loving this slow and steady weight loss.  10 lbs a month works for me!  So close to Onederland!

Question:  I am adding weight lifting into my workout routine.  However, I am finding it difficult to do cardio and weight lifting in same session - Sometimes, I get light headed, a little nauseous and too weak to finish.  Ideally I'd alternate cardio and weight days, but it's usually easier to do all at once from a time perspective.  Obviously I know I'm not eating enough calories, but how do you get enough calories in to fuel a challenging workout when you can't eat a lot?  Any feedback would be much appreciated!

Hope you all have a great Labor Day weekend!

  2. Bonnie,
If you are feeling faint then you may be dehydrated in addition to being calorie deficient. You have to listen to your body. I wasn't able to do strenuous cardio until my calories were at ~1000/ Day. I think you are going to have to separate your activities or do less intensity for now. Slow and steady works for exercise too. You're doing great. You'll figure this out.

  3. Great job! I just started with the cardio and feel alright. I haven't tried adding weights yet so I'm afraid I can't offer much advice that way.

  4. Do you do protein shakes? Are you eating before your workout? My first suggestion would be a good protein shakes WITH carbs in it. The carbs should give you a boost of energy. You could add 5grams of creatine as well. If you are worried about calories with the shake, you could mix it with water or almond milk instead of real milk. If you don't want to do a shake can you eat nuts or raisins? Those are a good preworkout fuel. A hardboiled egg? Maybe a protein muffin? Just some thoughts.

  5. I used to do 45-60 minutes of cardio 5 days a week... Keep in mind, I've done that religiously for years. About 3-4 weeks ago, I added strength training. I cut my times in half. I do about 25-30 minutes of strength and then 25-30 minutes of cardio. So my overall time is still the same. Plus, I didn't jump out there and do crazy amounts of lifting, etc. just trying to firm up so I can support my wiggly, lose skin.😁
