Weight loss is still slow and steady. I'm extremely happy with my progress. I've been working out regularly and feel really great. I definitely want to add in weights to my workouts and want some help putting together some routines so I have an appointment with a trainer on Friday. I'm excited, but a little nervous. I used to lift weights way back in my 20s and really enjoyed it.
Below are my stats:
Highest weight before lap band surgery on 7/9/2010: 278 lbs
Weight before pre-op diet for sleeve: 255 lbs
Weight day of sleeve surgery 5/1/15: 248.2 lbs
Weight at 9 week weigh in: 227.0 lbs
Weight at 11 week weigh in: 224.2 lbs
Weight at 15 week weigh in: 215.2 lbs
Total weight loss since sleeve surgery 32.8 lbs
We went to Busch Gardens last week and I really noticed a big difference in my fitness level. I wasn't out of breath and my feet weren't killing me at the end of the day. I want to give a plug for a wonderful walking sandal I found. Here is the link at Amazon and they are on a great sale. If you don't like them, you can ship them back for free. http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00KWK5H88?psc=1&redirect=true&ref_=oh_aui_detailpage_o02_s00L
Wearing a smaller size and feeling more attractive are huge advantages of losing weight, but being more physically fit is an awesome feeling.
Everybody is noticing my weight loss and for the most part it's complimentary. As a reminder, I did not share that I had sleeve surgery. I was very open when I got the band, but felt like I was under a microscope all the time. So when people ask how I'm doing it I say I'm eating less and exercising more. Maybe down the road I might say something, but it irritates me how people seem to think surgery is the easy way out. Not eating bad stuff is still a challenge and getting my ass off the sofa to exercise isn't any easier because of the sleeve.
There is one thing that has come up that irritates the hell out of me. My boss has taken to calling me "Skinny." I mean, I'm far from skinny, but I guess it's better than fatty? I know it's a compliment, but it just makes me feel icky. If we were friends, maybe I'd feel differently. Have you guys had anything like this happen? How did you handle? It's kind of hard because it's my boss. I just laugh awkwardly and hope he gets the message that I don't like it.
Hope you all are doing well. Going to start to try to get caught up on you all.

At my lowest weight, people started doing that to me and I was OK with it because I realize they mean it as a compliment. I just let it go. Isn't it great to be able to walk around all day and still be able to move? I'm not there yet but I remember fondly. LOL.
ReplyDeleteIf it really makes you uncomfortable, you should find a nice way to voice that... I mean, any comment from a man to a woman employee can be interpreted as harassment. Not that I'd go so far to say that to him, but just let him know you feel uneasy about it.
ReplyDeleteSo glad you are doing so well with your sleeve and you are feeling successful and happy! I knew you would love it :) I work in a school and had a parent make a comment to me about having "buns of steel" at a school event... I mumbled back "ummmm, no..." and I think it was embarrassing enough for both of us that it won't happen again, but now my boss and coworkers tease me all the time! ugh. The thing about losing weight when people think it is ok to comment about your body is so strange.
ReplyDeleteKeep up the good work!!
I have missed you!!!! I've looked at your blog almost weekly just hoping you'd post. You're doing fantastic!!! Yay for you! I work for a school district and one of the Superintendents called me "Skinny Minny." I thought... You rarely speak to me and THAT'S what you come up with? It was weird.I even had one lady tell me I was being snooty and rude. I was SHOCKED! I'm the nicest person I know. I think my physical changes are hard for everyone to adjust to.
ReplyDeleteKeep on truckin!!! Love you girl!!!!!
Thank goodness Amy keeps us on our toes! Glad to hear that things are going well. The "Skinny" nonsense drives me crazy. I don't think that is a good nickname for anyone. :( Enjoy the positives though, chica!
ReplyDeleteGlad you are doing so well. Feeling great is the best reward. My women friends have been commenting on how little I eat which makes it unpleasant to eat in front of my friends. Why do they think it's ok to comment on how little we eat any more than commenting on how much someone eats. It's a weird double standard just like calling someone skinny vs. fatty. There are still boundaries to observe in polite society.
ReplyDeleteI appreciate all the comments and knowing that I'm not the only one that gets annoyed at the comments. And you know what else gets on my nerves? Friends and family who DON'T SAY ANYTHING! I am the first to hand out compliments if people have a nice outfit or new cute haircut or have lost weight. My sister-in-law hadn't seen me in 3 months (she, my brother and their kids went on a crazy around the world vacation - they are very rich) And she did not say anything. My brother was very complimentary as he usually is, but I've lost 30 lbs since she saw me last and not a word. I know, I'm such a complainer. Damned if they do and damned if they don't. LOL.
