Do any of you use a heart rate watch? I used to have a heart rate monitor, but didn't like having the strap around my chest, so I never used it. I'm skeptical about how well a heart rate watch can work, so was wondering if you all have any input. I was thinking about getting one for Christmas.
As always, your help is very much appreciated.

I've always wondered the same thing, because I didn't want to wear soemthing around my chest because I was always afraid that if I bought it, what if it didn't fit? I'll be following this tread, because I need some recommendations too! Thanks, Bonnie!
ReplyDeleteI have the polar f4, which requires the strap. I don't even notice it honestly! I have known several people who had the heart rate watch and they didn't like it bc you theirs didnt have a constant read. For example, mine...bc of the strap, is reading the entire time I am wearing. Mary had the heart rate one and when we were doing zumba, had to stop all the time and hold the sensors on the watch to get a read.
ReplyDeleteI have the Polar F7- and I LOVE it! It makes me enjoy my workouts so much more. It also has the chest strap, but I never even notice its there. I have the medium size chest strap and even at my biggest I still had room to spare, so I wouldn't worry about that! E-mail me if you have any other specific questions!
ReplyDeleteI got this heart rate monitor watch from Sportline. http://kellyandthebandit.blogspot.com/2010/04/heart-rate-monitor-watch_20.html
ReplyDeleteI absolutely love it. I never wanted to get one that goes around my chest. The watch works great and can do so much.
I have the Polar F6 and love it. It has a strap and is constantly monitoring my heart rate. It calculates how many calories I burn during a workout and lets me know that I am reaching my target heart-rate.
ReplyDeleteI have the Sportline Solo 960 Women's. http://www.sportline.com/product.php?prod=68
ReplyDeleteI think the watch is so much better than the regular heart rate monitor that fits around your chest (that's my personal opinion though). Give it a whirl. It's not cheap, but I think it's worth it. I bought mine for about $100, but you can always find coupons to sports stores like Dick's or Sports Authority. Good luck!
I don't have a heart rate watch but I've always thought that I would like one!
ReplyDeleteI keep thinking about getting one but can never decide between the watch and the one with a strap. From the comments above, it seems there are people that love both, so I guess it will be more up to personal prefference. It's a pity we can get them on a trail bases first to see which one we prefer :o)
ReplyDeleteHi Bonnie,
ReplyDeleteYou stopped by my blog this morning and asked about the Nile Spice Black Bean soup. Yes, it is in the soup isle. It is usually around the cup 'o soups.
Hope you figured out the heart-rate watch. I know nothing about such things.
Thanks for your support!
Hmmmm... that would be interesting. I don't officially exercise, but I know I'm hauling a$$ all the time, and it would be cool to see what I'm burning. Plus, I calculate my calorie needs at a sedentary rate (even though I think I have adult ADHD and can not sit still for fifteen minutes straight)... so I'd like to see how much extra I'm burning. Please tell me what you end up getting, and what you think...
ReplyDeleteHey Bonnie! I have the Polar F7 I got it for xmas last year, it was my favorite gift! I use it everytime I work out! I love to see how many calories I am burning..mine has the strap too but it's adjustable and I don't mind it.
