Total Weight Loss

Feeling Funky

Sorry I haven't posted or commented much these past few weeks.  I'm not exactly sure what's wrong.  Maybe it's because summer is over and my pool looks like crap.  (We need to winterize it and cover it, but hubby hasn't had time yet).  Maybe it's because it's getting darker earlier.  But if I'm really honest, I think it's because I've lost 33 lbs and nobody has said a freaking thing.  Seriously?!  We had a football party last week and my uncle commented about one of our neighbors losing weight, but didn't say anything about my weight loss.  WTF?  And he knows about the surgery!   I know I'm overthinking it, but I feel like everybody thinks since I've had weight loss surgery that I don't deserve any compliments.  I'm sure I'm being overly sensitive, but it's bugging me.

Okay, enough whining.   Now for some good news.  Hubby and I had thought about going to Vegas next month and a few of you had mentioned possibly wanting to join us.  However, as we were looking around we came upon a 9 day cruise going out of Baltimore for a very reasonable price for us and the kids, so we've decided to do that instead.  Our school district doesn't give the kids a spring break, but they do get off a week over Thanksgiving because it's the beginning of hunting season.  Yes, you heard me right the kids get off for hunting season.  When I first heard this, I was like "Where the hell have we moved to and when are the banjos going to start playing?"   Anyway, if anybody wants to go on the cruise with us, let me know and I'll email you the details.  : )

Lastly and late, Thousand Word Thursday was to post a picture of your favorite pair of shoes.  Here is a picture of my favorite dress shoes.

They are comfortable and sexy.  I couldn't bring them to Chicago because my daughter likes them too and she had her homecoming dance that weekend.  Since I felt guilty about not being home for her dance, I let her use the shoes.

Hope everybody has a great weekend.

  1. A week off for hunting season? OMG, please keep that hush, hush. If The Husband hears about that, he will want to move there for sure, lol.

  2. where are you cruising to? Have a blast!!!
i went to college in central PA and was amazed that on the opening day of deer season there wasn't a male student to be seen on campus!
as for the people not noticing or commenting.... not sure where you started, but i started at 262.5lbs and other than close friends and family who have known all along what i'm doing, i didn't get any comments... and then all of a sudden last weekend.... 2 1/2 weeks post surgery and down a total of 54lbs.... EVERYONE is seeing the difference and commenting on it! Hang in there and don't worry about them... you're doing this for YOU

  3. A week off for Thanksgiving is very cool. My kids always had Wed, thur and fri off and I would keep them out Mon and Tue if we were travelling.

We have a couple who we are very good friends with, she is actually a WW receptionist. They knew I was getting the band and she actually told me that "in WW we get a lot of women with the band who still can't lose weight...good luck"

Well, as of today, BOTH of them have not said BOO about my almost 40 lb weight loss! It makes me crazy but I try not to let it get to me too much! People are ignorant....I noticed your weight loss and you are looking hot miss Bonnie!

  4. I was going to email you today to see where you've been, I'm sorry you're in a funk. I'm right with you on the weight loss and lack of notice. I've lost just over 30 and other than my husband who knows my body pretty darn well, not a sole has said a thing. I think I've gotten a few longer looks from friends - the kind where I think they are thinking hmmmm something's different over there, but na, it must just be those jeans she's wearing. The fact that I couldn't wear those jeans a month or so ago is apparently not relevant.

The cruise sounds fantastic! We're heading away for Thanksgiving week as well, I think maybe it should be a new family tradition.

Eventually people will notice and maybe it won't be until we've hit 50lbs or something like that, as happened with Island Bandit, but you're doing fantastically and should just keep doing what you're doing - the rest of the world will catch up eventually!

  5. Oh sweetie - it must be the week for feeling shitty, I'm with you.
As for weight, I could tell in Chicago you had lost. I know no one said anything to me until I lost over 40 pounds - I don't know if they don't want to offend or what. It can make you feel bad, but if you can see it that's what matters.
The cruise sounds great - if I win the lottery soon I'll come with. :) We need to do dinner soon - maybe we can pick a neutral place and get Read to come too. I should have emailed you I guess as this is long. I will this week.

  6. Great job on the 33 lbs! So jealous about the cruse. We went on one for our honeymoon and would love to go on another one but...we haven't. Sounds like so much fun! Hope you feel better soon. Where in MD do you live again?? We are just south of the city and it would be great to meet you.

  7. I hear you Bonnie...I'm at 55 down and not a single person has said a word..how is that possible. Maybe because it's coming off so slowly and people are getting used to the weight loss on a daily basis.
    Anyway...you look terrific.

  8. I'm with Linda...I was more than 40lbs down before anyone noticed. And at 100lbs down, still a lot of people hold back on the comments...because they don't want to offend me or whatever. Don't worry about those crapheads...you are doing well...just keep doing what you're doing!

I would LOVE to cruise with you and the fam. Damn brokeness!! I hope that having the cruise to look forward to will make you feel happier. It's good to have stuff to look ahead to.

    Chin up, little soldier. xoxo

  9. I was about 40 pounds down before anyone said anything to me about my weight loss. It will come, promise!!

Kids here get 2 full weeks at the end of September for Spud Harvest. Yup, that's right. Our school district in our tiny town closes it's doors for 2 weeks. And the kids don't even help with harvest, it's like summer break re-visited. We also get 5 snow days each year, 2 weeks for Christmas break, and a week for Spring break. It's crazy!!

  10. Is your cruise stopping in Nassau? When are you cruising? if you are coming here and have the time, it would be lovely to meet up. at the very least i can give you ideas for where to go and what to do while in town.

  11. Go on the cruise! We did the Baltimore cruise thing and loved it (no airfare to tack on....more money for martinis!).
The Steelers pulled a win out of their ASS too!!! LOL!Everyone won in PA!
Please don't get frustrated about the weight loss thing....it can be slow. But, it's happening! It takes awhile for people to notice and sometimes they don't even say anything (WTF????)
You are on the downhill....that's the good thing!
    Onward!

  12. Love the shoes! Wish our school district let the kids out to hunt!

You're doing great, don't get down about slow progress. Hang in there!

  13. LOL about the hunting season!! In Ohio, they get Doe Day off...that's right...first day of hunting season. Good lord! Try not to worry about the compliments...from everything I've read on these blogs, it seems 40 lbs is the magic number.

  14. GAHHH Compliments are so frustrating, aren't they?!?! It took me to like 75 pounds lost for people to start to say anything. I think the problem with people saying anything is: (1) it's an acknowledgment on their part that they think you were fat before, and (2) you see them all the time and they probably don't notice all that much, and (3) acknowledging your weight loss is a reminder of their own personal failures to not lose weight (sometimes, not always). Try to be understanding about it, but be sure to tell your very best friends that you are frustrated so they can spread the word to others that it's okay to say something to you!!

  15. Good thing you did not bring the shoes! I probably would have knocked you over in my stumbling drunk state!

You know 40 lbs is the magic number, absoutely! I didn't hear a peep until 40 lbs. And even at around-50, I still don't hear all that much. Oh well. You are doing great, don't forget all the little NSVs that add up! And you are so early in your journey.

Feel better. I think the colder darker days bite!

  16. Some people just can't give props to folk close to them. Don't know why. You look wonderful. We are both 33lbs down. Rock on!!

  17. 33 pounds lost is awesome! Phooey on him for not saying something. :)

I would love to join you on the cruise, but I will be getting ready for my surgery. Yay! I hope you have a fabulous time!

  18. Thanks for the super sweet comments Bonnie!! Hope everything is going well with you! It took me about 40 lbs before people started commenting on my weight loss to me as well. Now every 5 lbs they notice again. I think a lot of people are just worried about offending people, but trust me, they're not going to be able to stop themselves from gawking soon! =)

  19. Bonnie! It does suck when people know you have had surgery and its obvious you have lost weight but they dont say anything! Here is my theory...you are hotter than them so they dont say anything because they are jealous. Haha maybe, maybe not...but thats my theory. Congrats on the 33 pounds! You go girl!

  20. I'm trying to claw my way out of the funk myself. Sucks.

People never seem to know what to say. They think if they say "you look great" it means you looked like crap before.

    You are doing great, Sweets!
